My Boxer dog carries a teddy with him everywhere?

My Boxer is 1 year old. He is an adorable, big, soft dog. He was out walking with me last week and he had a rummage in a bargain bin of kids toys outside a charity shop and chose a stuffed green frog plush toy. I had to buy it for him as he loved it so much. 1 week on, He takes it everywhere with him, walks, he picks it up to take to his bed with him. I was wondering, is it usual for a dog to do such things? I have never known a dog get attached and cuddle a teddy before!
He is a very maternal dog, lol. He raised our new Boxer from 7 weeks old. He shared his bed and food with her and howled when she was out of his sight.

You have a very special kind hearted boxer and what a joy he must be. I'm sure he loves his frog cause you love him and let him have a fluffie that he picked out himself.
