My Husband is building a model railway i want to buy him a special prehaps rare train for his 40th birthda?
Would be looking for n gauge, modern or steam and ability to use on a digital track
Hoo-bloody-ray for "modeller_db" --- sense at last! Why DO these people come on and start waffling about things they obviously know very little about!
If your husband is already 'into' modelling he probably gets "The Railway Modeller" monthly magazine. That's packed with adverts you'll find mind blowing, and there's one firm in Liverpool whose name begins with an "H" (that way some idiot can't report me for advertising !) that stock practically EVERYTHING there is to have in "N" gauge, and for rather less than most other stockists ask, and they have a flat rate (£4) for postage.

If you are just beginning the hobby of coin collecting, and have not decided upon on a particular area of focus, collecting rare coins may be right up your alley. Collecting rare coins can be more than just a hobby, and usually is since you have already chosen this area of expertise. Coins usually become labeled as rare, because they possess certain characteristics that are not associated with most coins. How many of a certain coin are know to exist, certain defects of a coin and the age of a coin are some of the traits that can qualify a coin as being rare. Of course sometimes, non monetary issues also come into play when considering the rarity of coins, such as sentimental value and who may have owned the coin in the past.
Collecting rare coins can become a profitable business of course. But since obtaining these rare coins will usually take some serious money, it is not an area for the average collector to get involved with. Having rare coins passed down through family is a common way to come into possession of rare coins and also inheriting a rare coin collection would be a highly prized and treasured token from a loved one if you were to obtain such a gift. Now you have something to think about.
Why rare coins become more valuable with age is always a question I get asked by future collectors. Consider gold coins for example, they are such works of art that they are priceless in the eyes of certain collectors, and as everyone knows, the price of gold is always very high. And other coins such as the Liberty Seated Dollar were last manufactured in the 19th. century, and are considered rare as well. Have you ever heard of, or seen a 20 cent coin? It's about the size of a quarter and were produced from 1875 to 1878. If you can get one of these coins, hang onto it indeed. You have a treasure and a small piece of history.
Gold bullion coins, silver coins, Barber Half Dollars, the 1917 type, One Standing Liberty Quarter, with the exposed breast of Ms. Liberty, minted for 2 years only, all desirable rare coins to get a hold of. These and other unique traits of many other coins make them precious to collectors and very rare indeed.
Rare coins are greatly prized items for anyone lucky or fortunate enough to possess. Not only are they difficult to source, they are usually also very expensive to acquire. Should you have the resources available to pursue such items, then go ahead and add one or two, or a whole bunch to your rare coin collection today.
