Could you imagine it...you're on your way to work/Harrods (or Netto, in Peckham Rye)/or to see your ma, and a group of gunmen take the life of another passenger - who ended up not being the 'Muslim extremist' they thought he was.
You saw it all - and (bedamned), despite the original rush of fear, you got your Samsung out and recorded the last seconds of life drip from de Menezes...realising all the UK press, be it the populist screamers or others would want what you have recorded in your walkie-talkie.
But seriously...were the witnesses advised to 'walk away' - with the more 'suspect ones' (id est; students, dark-skinned or just chippy youngsters) being told to offer their D.O.B's and addresses to quickly arriving police before being told 'you can go'?
Just surprised at why the 'Got a story...?' type of media didn't target any of the witnesses from day one.

Hi. When I was at uni, I came across a piece on the net which pointed to other ways the police used to hush things up. The CCTV 'failings' of all four of the cameras at Stockwell station reminds me of the Hillsborough Disaster, in which the CCTV focusing on the area where most of the tragedy was happening, was 'not working'. I bet the police at the tube station came on the scene swiftly to eye up witnesses who, as you put it would 'cause trouble' and run to the newspapers, before asking their name, address and date of birth, so they knew who they were dealing with.
