Handmade Crochet Amigurumi

Handmade Crochet Amigurumi
What's your favorite kind of amigurumi?

I'm trying to make a little bit of pocket money, so I'm going to start crocheting again to sell things on etsy.com. I'm just wondering what kind of handmade stuffed animals/cute objects do you like? icon smile Handmade Crochet Amigurumi
I have plenty of books but I want your ideas to see what kind of things people are actually willing to buy.

As far as my crocheting ability goes, I've made a mushroom, penguin, duck, turtle, pig, and cupcake so far. None for sale; all were just for presents.

I didn't take a picture of any of them except for my mushroom here: http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb203/odette1028/mushroom.jpg

If you'd like it up for sale, please leave comments and I'll consider making more! icon smile Handmade Crochet Amigurumi
Thank you!
Oh, in case you weren't aware:

Amigurumi - the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures.

You can type it into Flikr.com and see plenty examples of what i mean. icon smile Handmade Crochet Amigurumi

I know i'm a guy, but i crochet a little. I made a cupcake from a book i found in a yard sale called Amigurumi: seriously cute crochet.

I thin most people would like cute cuddly things. I think you should sell them! It is a fun hobby and you can get money off of it.

Crochet is one of those crafts which can get associated with some not very comfortable images such as odd looking hats, strange colored place mats and of course those crochet squares made into afghan blankets to spread across the knees of frail old people or those confined to wheelchairs. Uncomfortable and uneasy images that make you shy away from anything made in this way and certainly keep you from trying to make something yourself. But it may be that the world of crochet has left you behind stuck with the outdated images of bygone crocheting items. The world of crocheting has moved on and you actually can make interesting and individual items with today's modern designs and yarns. If you can repress your natural revulsion why not take a look. You will be amazed at the things that you can make with the free easy crochet patterns that you can get from websites. One site even advertises itself as 'fueling the crochet revolution'. How alternative is that!

So free easy crochet patterns, what can I offer you? Well apart from the, usual potholders ponchos, cushions, spare toilet roll crinoline ladies and socks; yes socks, a bit lumpy but very hard wearing there are some really crazy stuff to be made from the free easy crochet patterns.

Here's a list of my favorites.

1. The dog jacket that's so sturdy it not only keeps the dog dry and warm but when wet goes stiff enough to keep a tired dog upright in a vice like straight jacket.

2. The crochet bikini made in a close knit pattern to save your blushes, but make sure you test it for shrinkage before you emerge on to the beach for some very admiring glances.

3. Crocheted toys like the Japanese Amigurumi doll or a crocheted bear or frog toy. Interesting items but a bit scary looking.

4. The Chicken Viking Hat it looks rather like a raw, featherless chicken with legs in the air on either side of the head like a Viking helmet.

And my all time favorite

5. The crocheted cuddly uterus doll. No honestly, you can find a free easy crochet pattern which will give you instructions on hand making your own cuddly uterus. Can you beat that! (Sadly the pattern with instructions for knitting the digestive tract, the complete human body and the Ferrari were not available.)

Last but not least did you know that the 12th of September is International Crochet Day? I bet you thought that crochet was just another of those small time home skills. Think again. International crocheting will expand your imagination and what a difference you could make to third world suffering and disaster situations. With enough crochet Afghans we could produce sturdy shelters for hurricane, earthquake and flood victims. Waxed crocheted buckets for clean water carriers and heavy duty crocheted boots. If you want to do your bit for those in distress start working on those free easy crochet patterns today.
