Has anyone got any information about antique mohair dogs?
Approximately 4 years ago i went to an antique fair in Essex (UK) and I really regret not buying this old black upright mohair gentleman dog! He was dressed in a tweed suit and had specs and a hat. It sounds odd I know but I can't find any info about him or where to get one from. Please help!
Mohair bears and animals are older as you know. The chances are that the Dog was German Steiff or Hermann. There is a book called Teddy Bears and Steiff Animals which compare German, American. and English bear features. Which would and the Steiff was most famous for animals other than bears such as horses, dogs, camels many that would pull or stand. There was puss and boots he was very cute with red boots, there was Bully a dog policeman too. My teddy Bears and Steiff animals does not show the dog you are remembering.
That one got away but keep in mind they could have changed the clothes and added the glasses, so go to the library and do some research. Also look on ebayuk for steiff dog and set your search engines for 6 mo.
