BJD making help?
I plan on making an Asian - style ball joint doll ( or super dollfie , BJD , etc.) and I need a little help on detailing the features . The guide says to use a stone clay for the surface of the doll . First of all , what is stone clay , and what are some other alternatives ? Would using a regular air drying clay work in place of the stone clay ?
Hello! What a project! I found this link: http://noxiv.cool.ne.jp/dreamscreator/BJD/Otino01record/eng.html They use LA DOLL clay or SUPER SCULPEY which is made specifically for making dolls.
I've seen air dry clay sold for the purpose of making dolls. I think it depends on what you want the stength to be and texture.

I recommend Super Sculpey, it's notoriously good at making dolls. Plus you can buy it in the fleshtone you want, which means that it won't flake later on. The down side is that it's not air dry, it has to be baked. I've worked with it before and found that it needs to be baked a lot longer than what they recommend on the packaging.
