How can you tell what BJD is what size?

I'm having trouble with BJD sizes. How do you know when your doll is a MSD? SD? USD?

I haven't heard of USD.

In general, the size groups are

SD - around 60cm aka 1/3 size (1/3 the size of a human adult)
MSD - around 40cm aka 1/4 size (1/4 the size of a human adult) aka mini
Tiny - usually 35cm or less
(and an small group of very large dolls around 65-70cm)

However, there are further distinctions for clothing purposes...

SD - most are mature but all don't fit in the same clothing

MSD - clothingwise usually refers to immature 1/4 size like Volks MSD. But the majority of new minis are mature, and many of those fit in clothes referred to as Unoa/Narae size or clothes of other mature minis

Tiny - These are all different sizes and girths - see my chart of many

For shoes and wigs, size varies somewhat - for example, MSD shoes are usually too big for Unoa, Narae, Minifee except for particular brands and shoes made for their size. Some minis wear 6-7 wigs and some wear 7-8, etc.

In general, for clothes, shoes, wigs you can check on a doll forum like http://www.denofangels.com/forums/ and you can also compare the measurements of your BJD to the BJD that clothes are made to fit. (example - if you find clothes sold for Dollzone girl, compare your doll's measurements to those of Dollzone girl).
