Ive been reading about the average size for american women, what if it doesnt fit....?

Ive read that the average size is 12, 143 lbs, at 5'4'' tall. What if it doesnt make sense. I am 5'4", and I have weight to lose. I wear a size 12 at 170lbs. So, with this said, what would one guess I should set a goal at, to be "normal" sized?

dont listen to what people say is "normal" sized. just because you weigh more doesnt mean anything, because the weight may be somewhere else instead of your stomach area where you button up pants. i also dont think that is correct because when i was a size 12 i was 170 pounds also. i am 143 pounds now and a size 4, so that has to be incorrect, or it just matters how you carry your weight.
