Is the classic, "Little Red Riding Hood" a werewolf story for children?
It has all the makings of such a story about a wolf who walked and talked and acted like a werewolf. A wolf that was a man before it changed for the purpose of getting all the goodies from Little Red Riding Hood. WHatever happened to the wolf in the end, I don't remember!
'Wolf' is a euphemism for a sexually preditory man.
The story was originally told as a warning to young girls to protect their 'innocence' from such men.
The film 'The Company of Wolves' {adapted from the story by Angela Carter} explores the original meaning of the tale ~ and introduced a werewolf element.
