Baby Boomers?! Do you remember a disturbing looking Beatnik talking doll that Mattel might have put out?
I think the doll was put out by Mattel the same company who put out the Chatty Cathy doll. You pulled the ring on her neck/back and she talked.
I saw a doll like that in the window of a vintage store in 1980 and she freaked me out even then. I have a phobia about dolls in general, but this one really freaked me out decades later as an adult.
Does any one remember that particular doll???
In 1964, Mattel came out with a 23"high, black haired Beatnik doll called Scooba Doo. You would pull a string & she would say certain things. (ie: Do you dig my crazy black stockings or Don't be square, I'm Hip, etc.)
