I bought a car and the engine blew after the private seller told me it was in great condition what do i do?
Ok I got a car from a friend for 1500 he told me the car was in great condition and nothing was wrong with it. Well I got the car and about a week or even earlier I went to get it registered and on my way there the engine completley blew. And the seller won't give us our money back.
Well, I've been told that here in my state it's "buyer beware" when you buy from a private party.
Problem is that maybe the car was actually fine before. It could be a coincidence...
In the future, you can buy from a dealer. Then the dealer has certain guidelines and laws to abide by. If you had bought from a dealer, you would probably be able to work something out. Not sure you will be able to do much about this situation with your "friend" now. You may be able to find someone who can fix the car for as little as possible; then you can just "drive it 'til it drops" - that would probably be the most practical thing to do.
Another thing to consider is that you did choose this option. A used car from a friend never comes with a guarantee. It will probably save you alot of energy if you just make do with this car for awhile and let the rest go.
Sorry you lost $$!!!
Good luck to you!
In this crazy real estate market you may be confused as to when is it a good time to buy a home. There is never a predictable "perfect" time to buy but most people tend to think that whenever everyone else is out there buying that they need to jump on the band wagon and hurry to buy. This is actually one of the worst times to buy. Look what happened just a few years back at the 2004/2005 buying frenzy. Homes were literally flying off of the shelves, selling for thousands of dollars over their asking price and in many cases thousands of dollars over appraised prices.
People tend to follow the crowd. That is not a wise time to buy as you will likely get caught up in that time frame and pay more for a home than you should. Of course no one can tell you when the very "best" time to buy a home is but prices have now dropped so low that it may be time to start thinking about buying now. Although all you hear about on television and in the media is doom and gloom and talk about how many bank owned homes are hitting the market. What does that tell you? What it tells the smart investor or buyer is that this may actually be the best time to pick up a great deal.
You have many opportunities in this type of market, bank owned, short sale or just people that are slashing their home price just to get it sold. Be sure and understand what each type of purchase means to you. The bank owned homes as well as the short sale homes will not come with an opportunity to request repairs to be made, they will be sold in "AS-IS" condition and although you would get an inspection done you cannot expect the seller to make any repairs. You will also not be receiving any type of disclosures on the property from the seller since the bank did not live in the property and knows little about it and its condition.
If you are thinking of selling your home and home prices are low in your area you will have a difficult time competing with the prices although if your home is priced well and is in great condition may get good traffic from people that do not want to do a lot of work on a home or worry about things that may be wrong with a home. Some buyers simply want a nice home, priced reasonably and are able to have repairs done to the home. Keep in mind that it will not be an easy time with the number of homes and the competitive prices.
It is impossible to tell when the very bottom has hit but by the time most people have realized it the prices have already started to come up and then more people begin to buy before prices get higher again. They won't reach those peek prices any time soon but then again they never should have been that high in the first place. Do not wait until everyone else is buying to react, go against the crowd. Really good investors know the game and never buy when everyone else is buying. Make wise choices and enjoy the home you buy as generally it is still a great investment.
