American Girl Doll good gift for 6 year old daughter?

My oldest daughter has been talking for MONTHS about wanting an American Girl Doll. She knows the exact outfit and doll she wants and we're thinking about getting it for her. Do you think she is too young for it? She got the American Girl Doll baby (I think they're called Bitty Baby's) when she was 3 and it is still in great condition and she plays with it, but is it okay to get her the real American Girl? Thanks!

I think 6 is the perfect age. I got my first American Girl (samantha) 16 years ago at that age and I treasured her so much that to this day I keep her safe in my closet on a display stand! Those dolls are not only fun to play with but its also great that each girl has books about their life. Its a great way to show your daughter American history and how special it is to be a girl.
